About Me:

My name is Ivan Spiegelberg and I grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay. I have been playing soccer since I was 8 years old and love it more every day. I first started playing our traditional South American street soccer when I was 11, then I started training regularly and playing for my school futsal team. After four years of training and playing futsal in Youth A division, my coach had me try out for outdoor soccer. At age 15 I became part of Racing F.C. Youth Academy, one of the Uruguayan first division academy teams. After one year in the academy, an opportunity came up to start playing in a higher age group at a new club called Villa Teresa. At this time I was 17 years old playing on the U-19 team, and I had the opportunity to meet and play against now known world class players including former center back of Sunderland A.F.C. Sebastian Coates, and Nicolas Lodeiro, former player from Brasilian club S.C. Corinthians.

I moved to Canada when I was 18, and continued to train and play with local teams in the Niagara region. I look forward to developing similar programs to what I was involved in growing up in Uruguay, with the goal to assist in the growth of soccer in Canada.

Coaching Philosophy:

Being a successful player takes hard work and dedication to the sport, but even more so it takes heart. Although learning the fundamentals and disciplined practice are central to achieving goals, I believe that teaching to play with passion for the game is key. My love of soccer is evident in coaching strategies and translates into a motivational and fun training experience.
